The Inn at English Harbour

The Hotel

Set in 19 beautiful acres of English Harbour, a National park in Antigua, you’ll find the luxury boutique Inn at English Harbour. Bordered on one side by the lapping waters of the Caribbean Sea on its fine white sandy beach and then surrounded by wooded parkland, the Inn at English Harbour is the perfect hideaway for those looking to escape the pressures of day to day living.

The Inn at English Harbour sits on its own fine white sand beach, just a two minute water taxi ride from historic Nelson’s Dockyard with its museum and restaurants. It’s the perfect setting for watching yachts as they make their way past to their moorings or prepare to return to the open seas.

There are two restaurants and two bars — The Reef is a casual beachside affair with its own bar and serves breakfast, lunch and drinks throughout the day. Then at night sip cocktails at the eerily Cornish looking ‘Stone Bar’ before dining under the stars at the Terrace fine dining restaurant.

With just 28 stylishly appointed rooms, 4 Beach Cabanas sat directly on the beach and a further 24 Luxury and Junior Suites set in pristine gardens, guests of the Inn are guaranteed a highly personalised level of service.

As you would expect, the Inn at English Harbour offers a range of activities including non motorised Watersports and tennis. There is also a boutique spa managed by the hotel’s Japanese Masseuse.

For couples thinking of getting married or honeymooning in Antigua, the Inn at English Harbour offers the perfect setting. Weddings are such a personal and special event in a couples life, you cannot buy an ‘off the shelf package’. So whilst the basics may have a common thread, couples marrying at the Inn discuss their plans with our Wedding co-ordinator, who fashions the couple’s dreams into the special day.

Getting to Antigua and getting around when in Antigua:

From the UK both British Airways (www.BA.com) and Virgin Atlantic (www.virgin-atlantic.com) fly nonstop to Antigua from Gatwick and flights can be booked online or via a travel agent or tour operator. Flying inter-island tends to be with the local airline, LIAT (www.liatairline.com) which operates much like a bus service hopping from one island to the next. The alternative is to use one of the private charter airlines that operate in and out of the airport.

On an island of 14 miles by 11, you would be forgiven for thinking you couldn’t get lost, but the lack of road signs does make navigating around this tropical paradise a challenge even for the accomplished orienteer. On arrival and departure it’s recommended you leave it up to the experts and take a taxi to the Inn at English Harbour (approximately £30 each way). But during your stay a couple of days car hire is recommended to get out and see all the island has to offer.

Activities and facilities

Restaurants and Bars

The Reef
Guests tend to start their day either going for a stroll along the beach followed by breakfast at The Reef, or going directly to The Reef, the Inn at English Harbour’s beach restaurant and bar located just feet from the water’s edge. Breakfast at the Reef is a casual affair with a large selection of fresh fruits, pastries and cereals served from the buffet, whilst a wide selection of cooked breakfasts is also available from the menu.

The Reef serves a wide range of international dishes and snacks throughout the day and until early evening together with a full bar service for diners and beach dwellers.

The Stone Bar and Terrace Restaurant
Located in the Great House, The Terrace Restaurant provides a fantastic and glorious setting for afternoon tea and for special ‘al fresco’ candlelit dinners beneath the stars. With panoramic views over English Harbour with it's yachts at anchor and the surrounding lush countryside, there can't be a more dramatic scenic location in Antigua .

The superb cuisine is prepared by our Executive Chef Flavio who has recently joined us. You won't be surprised that his menus are slightly influenced by his Italian roots, but his time in the Caribbean has well acquainted him with the flavours of the region. So fine food and a comprehensive wine-cellar, supported by friendly and discreet service, have ensured The Inn has one of the finest restaurants in Antigua.

Room Service
A full Room service menu is available from 8.00am until 11.00pm

Activities for the lounger

The Beach
Often one of the main deciding factors in where to holiday is whether there is a fine white sandy beach. With its own private jetty, the alluring beach at the Inn at English Harbour is like most beaches around the world a public beach. But with a lack of easy access and its location fronting the clear warm blue waters and surrounded by the lush green landscape of the surrounding hills it induces a sense of privacy and seclusion.

This beach is best enjoyed from the comfort of one of the hotel's sun loungers shaded by palms or umbrella; or perhaps from the traditional style sun-bed strategically placed to maximise the cooling effect of the shallow clear Caribbean waters, whilst keeping the pages of the latest best seller dry.

The Pool
Set in verdant tropical gardens, the infinity edged pool is perfect for those that like to swim, paddle or instant cooling after tanning under tropical skies.

The Boutique Spa
Not for the spa aficionado, this one bedroom boutique spa offers a range of massages performed by the Resident Japanese Masseuse. Facials, manicures and pedicures are also available.

The Boutique
Now located close to the Reef restaurant the boutique has a range of gift ideas plus of course the usual essentials normally forgotten in the haste of packing

Activities for the active

Fitness Centre
Not a Cannons, but the Fitness Centre has a range of equipment to keep you in shape.

Tennis
There are 2 floodlit tennis courts available for both day and night use, these have both been newly re-laid, so those practising for Wimbledon come and get some practise.

Watersports
Complimentary kayaking and snorkelling are available as well as water-skiing, scuba diving, sunfish sailing and deep-sea fishing which are available nearby at a charge.
